I have the honour to inform you that the question has arisen as to the material to be used in constructing the foundation of the Quay Wall at North Point, and to request that the matter may be referred to the Consulting Engineers, Messrs. Coode, Fitzmaurice, Wilson and Mitchell.

I enclose a copy of a statement by Mr.R. Baker the Port Engineer, together with a report by Mr.P.R.Warren of Sir W.G. Armstrong, Whitworth & Co.Ltd.,

The drawing and sample of sand referred to

in Mr. Baker's statement are forwarded under separate

cover.
